    Hi guys,
Just curious what you guys think of having T1 Orbital Ground Radar only apply to your planet, and have a T2 Orbital Ground Radar (probably with the current awesome Pyramid model) take the role of a complete system view.

This would mirror the T1/T2 Radar we see in Ground and Orbit at the moment.

It would also make it more difficult to see who was going where early game, giving people longer to prepare before being pursued, and increasing the chance of people heading to the same planet together early-game, leading to more combat.

Like/Hate? Suggestions and discussion are welcome as ever - I often change thread suggestions based upon community discussions.

Edit: These role could be further differentiated:
E.g. T1 Orbital Ground Radar could tell exactly what units are in orbit of the planet it is built on, whereas T2 Orbital Ground Radar could scan the entire system but might only register Orbital Unit markers.
This would make it more difficult to see everything somebody on the other side of the solar system has in orbit, making scouting and ground footholds necessary for more advanced Orbital Recon. This in turn gives combat more depth, as it's not simply a matter of sending greater numbers of Fighters/Anchors than you can immediately count. In short, it matches the Recon required in Air/Naval/Land warfare, where you either need to send a scout or get a radar close enough to get more advanced intel.

Vote is slightly biased... 9/10 would vote again.

The game has enough of the "T2 is T1 but better" as it is. We don't need any more of it.

Why not? It's clear that T2 is better, not 'Advanced' or 'Specialised'. You get bigger and stronger everything in T2.
Besides which, such blanket attitudes ignore the individual questions. You could've posted that comment in any thread about Tiers.

lol plus I don't mind mixing T1 into T2 units. I mean it gives the enemy something to shoot at lol.

    Same with T1 + T2 Land/Naval. T2 doesn't completely invalidate T1 in high enough numbers lol :p

In fact I often use the strategy of distraction. Get a whole bunch of booms and levelers. Go to the back of the base with booms and cause havoc. Leave the levelers waiting at there front door, and as soon as they go back to deal with the t1 threat just steam roll with t2. T1 are great for expendable units :D.

I like the idea but I would limit the system radar in some way or another - such as only showing blips of structures/orbital; or perhaps only indicating enemy presence in general without any positional information - something along the lines of 'Enemy signatures: 250+'. That and making such a structure visible to any player being detected by it as has been suggested for other radar sites already.

It is quite odd that a single T1 Orbital Ground Radar can detect not only everything in Orbit in a system, but also what those units are. Your suggestions would be best, as at the moment you can basically pinpoint an enemy base based upon what satellites are where. Even just masking the units as dots would be more in-keeping with Ground/Naval/Air Radar, and allow Orbital have some more tactics; if you know exactly what your opponent has got so easily then things become a spamming contest very quickly.
