    Hi,
As the tool for tracking bug is officialy defunct, I open a thread here for this nerverending issue for Linux users, first detected Sat Oct 05, 2013 12:04 by DeathByDenim.

Bug: unexpectedly, from time to time, the selection box get stuck and you can't select anything anymore. Thus you have to hard close the game. If you were playing Galactic war your game is lost in /dev/null. If you were in a multiplayer game, you can get back in game losing some time... It can happend quite frequently, as once a day, generally after ~15mn of gameplay.

The reason is a crash in CoherentUI.

Most of the log point to an issue in "WARNING:accelerated_surface_linux_coherent.cc(256)] could not update shared memory image", sometimes to "Not implemented reached in void content::GpuVideoDecodeAccelerator::Initialize(media::VideoCodecProfile, IPC::Message*)HW video decode acceleration not available." and sometimes to nothing...

It all seems related to GPU usage in Linux and CoherentUI (the user interface).

    Some recent logs are attached.

There was a dev from coherent around, maybe they can have a look.
    @johncoh I think

I'm suprised that you still get this bug. I was getting it from about March to June on Ubuntu but in recent patches the UI has been working great.

Good. May I ask what your GPU is? And what kind of driver you use with it?

GPU is Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 using Ubuntu 15.04's Nvidia 346.59 driver.

I don't suffer from this anymore either since one of the last patches where they fixed this.
At least you can save now in GW by pressing the menu in the UI on the bottom left. Assuming that part of the UI still works for you.

How often does this happen still to you with the current version of PA? Has there been any change at all for you?

(GeForce 650M with version 331 drivers by the way)

I also had no problems with PA when I tried it under linux last (running an AMD R9 280), although I did have to enable the 'software UI' flag or the UI did freeze up.

I'll have to test again though to check if anything has changed...

It went away for me a few patches back, but its back now. Very rare. As an aside, anybody else have a white box around their cursor?

@DeathByDenim, it happen almost on a daily basis (i tend to play seveal hours at once).
@waylanderpk, no I do not have a white box around the cursor. I use proprietary driver from nvidia on fedora 21, which is version 352.21. The GPU is GeForce GTX 660 Ti.

I had another issue just today in GW. The system freezed loading the planetary system (having the commanders on top left, but no planets on top right, the planet themself were rendered).
The log is full of error at different times, but only the last one seems fatal (the log was stuck in this last error before I Alt-F4 the game):

You might want to post about this over at Coherent-labs.com too as these X errors are being generated by the Coherent UI. A Linux user had success with that in the past. See: https://forums.coherent-labs.com/index.php/topic,581.msg1913.html

(@waylanderpk I don't have white box around my cursor either. Maybe play with --software-ui or the Mouse Cursor fix on PAMM?)

I started the game, resumed a Galactic War, by the time I tried to use my very first fabber BAAMM. This bug (selection box stuck) hited me again. From launch to bug, less than 5 min. So frustrating :/
