    Hello everyone,

I've been tinkering with a new installer for the UberLauncher. It should automatically install the dependencies needed by the launcher and by PA, and have the latest version of the launcher. You can find it here:

    http://setup.uberent.com/PlanetaryAnnihilation_Setup.exe

I'd love to have you in our community help me test it -- make sure it runs fine on your various computers and things seem to be in order. All feedback would be appreciated -- even if it's just "works for me!"

Suggestions for improvements would also be welcome.

This would be super helpful guys. We can't really get the same quality testing on this with us all being in house. Thanks for any help :D

10/10 Great experience. Would install again.

My Windows installation is pretty standard though, so I'm mostly interested in seeing how people with other languages or unusual Windows usernames respond to this.

I just want to say that installing in C:\Games is a little weird.

After my first install, I saw it downloaded 189/190 packages. And when I pressed play it kept on decompressing and updating the game files. When I verified again the game just launched fine :)

    Edit:
Was easy for me since my games are installed on D:\Games :p I only had to change one letter ^^

    Edit 2:
Installing PTE had the exact same issue, only this time I didn't see how many packages were installed the first time. After a second verify it was fixed again and the game launched instantly ;)

I got a "failed to install DirectX9.0c redistributable" on mine.

    Windows 7

    i5-661
    GTS450
    8GB RAM

    Still ran fine though.

Launcher uses the old PA icon? That's a little strange.

If you expanded details, did it have any more info?

the installer works, the launcher itself still has that issue where it does only do 99% of the work required and I need to verify. With a new copy of PA if I do not verify it is missing files and dies on startup:
[23:34:38.390] ERROR Caught exception when constructing CoherentUI - Failed to load /ui/main/shared/js/thirdparty/DataTables-1.9.4/media/css/jquery.dataTables.custom.css while reading /ui/boot.json

The launcher itself also still hogs up a single thread at max speed, so it sits there at 25% cpu load on my quadcore.

Yeah, it's just the way it has been. I feel like the launcher should probably have its own icon, but I haven't badgered any artists about their thoughts.

I expanded the details but there was nothing about the failure noted there that I saw. I'll run it again a few more times and see if it does it again so I can copy paste.

Seems just fine for me. I didn't try downloading PA via it, but I imagine it's the same launcher, just a different installer for it. Fairly clean, and gave me the option to not create a start-menu shortcut. (Thank you!)

Edit: I also install most of my stuff to my D drive, but since I already have a folder C:\Games, it's fine with me.

Checked the installer. Didn't got any errors or weird messages. Good to know that it'll install the dependencies also. Was needed badly.

It's probably easy to just recolor the existing PA.exe icon to be red or something for the launcher.
