Oh, did you revert the other shaders before trying this one?

Same effect but with an extra distance cull.

Try this please :). Show the commander spawn again if you can.

This one changes the shape, to see if perhaps there is some weird numerical things going on.

Try this, even more culling. I would be happy with a screenshot really, if the video is too much trouble.

If we get a solution that works I'd be happy to help test on unaffected hardware to see if it causes any regressions... I can test on a couple of amd cards and a couple of NV based laptops...

Awesome. That is pretty much as good as I am going to get it I think. Basically, the math in the shaders says the fragments outside the circles should not exist, but they do anyway. Most of the fragments spawn with a value of 1 (which is supposed to indicate the centre of the circle). I got rid of those, but there is no way to distinguish between fragments that are in the weird geometric shapes and the ones which are legit part of the circle. I am beginning to think that another source of the problem is hiding somewhere else. I will play around with it a bit more.

@cdrkf could you try this version please?

I will test tonight on my laptop. Can test on GeForce 970m and the integrated hd gpu (only machine I have access to right now).

Can you detail how I need to enable this again? Nice work!

Just paste the .fs files contained in the zip in your /media/shaders/ directory

    Hi Dom,

so I've done some testing with this: Results, with Geforce 970M the new shader works fine (just without the green shading) :)

Tried running PA with the HD530 igpu but it just crashes (I believe there is currently an issue with intel's latest igpu and PA). Shader appears unrelated to crash as it occurs before even getting into the menu.

Two more to try out! These might make things a bit slower, but not fully tested so I am unsure if it really changes the speed at all.
