What's the format of the next tourney?

I'm game for it- although I don't know if I'll be free or not yet so can't register until a bit closer to the time (if slots are still available).

I'm glad pace is still going though!

    Ah. I get you.

It'll be a standard 1v1 tournament, single planet system, no special rules.

In danger of speaking on his behalf, Gandalf got burnt out coordinating and doing so much. So we're gonna try and have more delegation so the work load is spread out.

I'm afraid I will have to pass on assisting with this tournament as it is right in the middle of my exam season (with an exam the following day if memory serves.

General message to any tournament organisers - if you need a hand drop me a message (anytime after May 16th)

Is it possible for you guys to make a Google Doc and sort out the volunteer "needs" you want?

    -Web developer
    -Social media help(facebook/twitter/forum blasts)

It helps people want to volunteer if they know what kind of volunteering they might be doing.

I definitely don't want to be hauling dirt from one place to another if I say I want to help. (i'm sure this won't happen but you know what i mean)

The main thing we need are tourney coordinators.

It looks like the site development is falling upon me.

Publicity is always helpful in any form. We haven't talked about setting up facebook/twitter/etc, but that may be worth it. Even then, it wouldn't take much management.

Brian, you have a four hour time hour time difference between EST and GMT (correcting am to pm) in the OP, but the time difference between those time zones is five hours. I would suggest using a single UTC time with a link to a time converter because my experience of this community is that you all suck at time zones :p

Heh. Blame @oathalliance on that one. lol

I changed the times and added a countdown link.

    Thanks for the catch.

I just want to check as well that you're knowingly using PST/EST/GMT when currently those areas are all on PDT/EDT/BST, right? So for example, the tournament starts 1900 GMT, which would be 8pm in the UK.

I went with 11:00am Seattle time and used the converters to put in the other times and that's what they said.

EDT to UTC is 4 hours.
EST to UTC is 5 hours.

GMT changes, that's why it's best to use UTC as a standard.

P.S. The US is currently on DT not ST.

The problem becomes when people associate countries with a time zone, when countries actually change time zones ala the UK switching from GMT to BST in March.

That's why you use UTC because it is unchanging. I recommend using World Time Server to do conversions to generate a UTC time.

    http://www.worldtimeserver.com/convert_time_in_US-WA.aspx

We see that 1100 PDT in Washington on the 10th May is 1800 UTC. We then run a conversion for UTC using 1800 and the 10th May.

    http://www.worldtimeserver.com/convert_time_in_UTC.aspx

Then link people to the completed conversion. They can choose which region the time is converted to from this link.

    http://www.worldtimeserver.com/convert_time_in_UTC.aspx?y=2014&mo=5&d=10&h=18&mn=0

I've saved a profile there, so whenever I visit, it automatically converts the UTC time for me to local UK time. And because you can feed it the date it will account for any changes in time zone, etc. between now and then.

So is the intended start time for this tournament is 1800 UTC?
