Finnish translation done by Shalkka and me. We all need an easy way to get translations in game so we can check the context and polish.

I've updated the first post with status. Also, I've added Klingon as an official language. ;-) I was a little shocked when I realized Klingon was an officially ISO recognized language (Code TLH)

I am tempted to translate all instances of "uber". As a German that's dreadful to look at :p

Someone else has to go through the translated lines and approve them or add a replacement of their own.

Read and vote if they're good, I guess, though the proper real validating will be done by devs and probably hired real translators, I think.

Also, aw yiss, Polish best quality wise :D

Per my initial post, validation means reading through the translations, voting on them, providing alternates if you disagree that it's the best translation, etc. This is as critical, if not more so, than actually writing the translations. :)

You should be able to check your translations in-game by running the executable with --locale=?? at the command-line, where ?? is the locale folder you want (eg. --locale=de, --locale=fr, etc.).

For testing purposes (such as helping to identify which UI elements aren't currently marked up for localization), we have a couple "pseudo-loc" translations in the build (the fake/autogenerated "xx" and "xx-pad" locales), that you can correlate with, if it helps.

--locale=xx : use regular pseudo-loc locale "xx", which uses the original English but replaces characters with other Unicode characters that almost, but not quite, look like the original characters. It's usually legible, in a pinch. :)

--locale=xx-pad : same as --locale=xx, but the strings are padded with an additional padding character (omega) to extend the length by roughly half, to help find UI elements that aren't friendly to languages with many longer words (eg. German).

If any of that stuff doesn't work, let us know! :)

I thought it was the ingame one.

at first I understood Cmd and that "--locale" was an argument, so I was like, heck, i'll just add it to the shortcut, in "target" but that did nothing.

I'm a Cmd illiterate, I learned all my commands in ubuntu, how do i run PA with the --locale. give me the whole thing otherwise you can assume I've failed.

I managed to get it work by adding necessary commands to shortcut target line.

    Like so

    "D:\Games\Planetary Annihilation\PA\PA.exe" --locale=xx-pad

Now we only need a way to download files from localization site. Or edit local files.

    D:\Games\Planetary Annihilation\PA\media\ui\alpha\_i18n\locales\xx-pad

You can only run the game using the xx locale to test whether it works. There was no update since localization work began.
