Here we go again. And the usual commentators saying PAT has no flavor or style. Feels like neither the reviewer nor commenters actually played the expansion. It doesn't feel like a grind at all to me. Seems there is a ton of new strategies you can try on any given map now. Can't Uber get a break? It's the kickstarter/early access curse I tell you.

I'm hoping it's a good enough reason for TB to take a look at PA again.

Well, it seemed like they played only Campaign.

I get this horrible feeling that this might actually be true.

Joking aside, I like the fact that they mention 'the third resource' - I still hold that's a very real thing, and is unit by which we measure the Zaphod limit.

the troll brigade on the steam forums seems to hope that as well.
Would be fun to see a reaction from him or other popular youtube people

I totally get their point 100%.

The problem is that they expect a real campaign and identity like other RTS games and whilst this is always a plus it's not relevant to a lot of people, me included. I have played so many RTS games over the years from Supcom, C&C, Universe at war ETC... And I have never played past 10% in any campaign mode in the last ten years or so. I always skirmish or PVP.

PA also has the problem that it has no factions, when you play you're always playing the same faction and against the same faction, there is no identity to your attacker.

And yes PA is a massive micromanagement fest but so was Supcom. It's a genre, not a flaw.

Not that you actually need to do even a large amount of Micro to even be effective.

That is what makes these macro RTS games so good...you can micro, but it isn't required for victory.

    ---

And hell, even the story text for the GW systems is new, and it's kinda alright.

We just need more stuff like that, faction specific fluff, text, pictures, splash screens and skins.

I GUARANTEE that faction specific skins would give a BUTT LOAD more feeling to the game.

Speaking of TB and other Youtubers, has anyone actually gone to them and said HEY CHECK THIS OUT, SCREW THE HATERS?

Or should we let the devs try that one?

Not for us to do, honestly. Uber has its own connections for doing this sort of thing - I know certain people at Uber have direct or indirect contact with lots of media people and industry personalities, the games industry isn't a big place it turns out.

Oh, and it was on the frontpage of /r/games yesterday - anyone working in games media worth their salt at least knows about it, and can make their decision on whether or not to cover it from there.

Yeah, that is old news haha.

I guess I'll just bot spam TB's inbox with pictures of Dox with smiley faces.

That sounds like a great way to make him really determined not to give the game any coverage :)

But they're so cute with the smiley faces....

Or maybe it's super terrifying. I can't decide.

Does the reviewer really know what they are talking about?

What you pick can change how you play every game, it can mean the difference between rushing and not rushing, to sneaking bots in the water, or hovertanks on top of the water...and many other variations. The differences are quite important actually.

Is this like that Polygon(?) thing where they sent a guy who didn't know anything about Rock Band to cover the latest Rock Band game?

I haven't read this. I'm too tired for something like it and frankly I haven't played Titans yet so I wouldn't get the "full experience".

More like the IGN review, where they got a guy to review it who doesn't like RTS games and doesn't like the idea of playing on planets.
