The first battle will be fought within the week, possibly within 48 hours. More details soon.

The war for the first galaxy has begun!

The first galaxy after 2 episodes. It will feature 135 systems in total.

The 3rd episode will take place this weekend probably, and we'll have blog updates on the first two soon.

There's a lot of stuff to talk about in terms of rules, but as far as sign-ups go, it will be pretty simple.

Basically, The Cult has divided itself into the 4 official PA factions: Legonis Machina, Foundation, Synchronous and Revenant, and will keep fighting the war between itself indefinitely. However, if other clans join us, the 4 PA factions will unite to form The Cult in order to fight the common enemy, and beyond that point the clans will play the role of the lore's factions.

So clans=factions in Cosmic War, in the long term.

We need 2 clans minimum to join us, in order for the 4 current factions to unite to form The Cult. So whatever clans are interested, post in this thread, and when there are 2 of them, we can set things up. (After that, clans can join one at a time, but we need 2 to start with because it would be boring if it was just one clan against The Cult, which is why The Cult divided itself into 4 factions to start with.)

Either way, we'll keep this thread updated on how the war is going. The long-term goal is to have dozens of clans with hundreds of players fighting it out across dozens of galaxies, but it will take a long time to get there, and we are prepared to be as patient as we have to until that happens. The two games we've already played were a lot of fun, so we look forward to playing many new ones soon.

Some general rules that we have already established:

    - All games will use a single-faction, 4-tech-tier mod of Legion that we are developing. The balance of the mod will be agreed upon/voted on by all the clan leaders taking part in the war, and will always remain a work-in-progress.

    - All games will be spawn anywhere, for both aesthetic and mechanical reasons (aesthetic: because landing zones make no sense when the commanders arrive from space, and mechanical: because spawn anywhere increases the strategy options available and decreases the amount of work required to create hundreds of systems that may be used repeatedly under hugely varying conditions in terms of number of teams and players).

    - No symmetry will be allowed in the systems, unless it makes aesthetic sense (as in the case of metal planets). Remember that this is a lore-based and lore-heavy event, so we'll take aesthetic considerations very seriously. So we can't have mountain ranges shaped like baseball fields, etc.

    - For the same reason, no silly names for systems or planets will be allowed (e.g. "Hot Sausage" or whatever). Same with commander names. No "Commandonut" for example. We will edit the names of whatever comms we deem silly, and indeed we will make several commanders entirely unavailable for this event (the ones that look silly).

All games will be hosted on the Insomnia server and will be live casted, with blog updates containing lore and mechanical sections posted on a regular basis on cosmicwar.net.
