The last one is too old to be reasonably bumped so I made another.

I was recommended probably the scienciest of all sci fi I've ever read recently. Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions. Pretty much entirely exposition and the concepts it covers are pretty basic, but it was entertaining. Very short.

Here's a link to an online readable version if you want. It has the original illustrations, but I think they accidentally used the word President once instead of Grand Circle.

YAY! I recently read Nightfall by Isaac Asimov.

What would happen if the stars only shone once every 2000 years? It's a FANTASTIC story.

Read it too, really really good.

I'd recommend The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

The ever increasingly inaccurately named trilogy?

I've been wanting to get around to reading that for a long time now. Not sure why I've never read it.

I have the Ultimate version, which contains:

Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy (really good)
Restaurant at the end of the universe (somewhat weird)
Life, the Universe and Everything (really weird and really fun)
So Long and Thanks for All the Fish (really, really weird and somewhat meh)
Mostly harmless (reading right now, wonderfully fun)

I re-read the His Dark Materials trilogy recently. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It has an exceptionally entertaining storyline that touches on some quite profound issues in a very accessible and enjoyable way.

I have a buncha books up in the spare room I haven't actually got around to reading. Mostly Warhammer 40k books I picked up from friends, once upon a time. Couple of them are quite good.

In terms of recommendations, if people like sci-fi and haven't read Peter F. Hamilton, do so. Fallen Dragon is a great, short read that incorporates a lot of his worldbuilding from the incredibly lengthy Night's Dawn Trilogy.

It describes itself as the Trilogy in Five Parts. Douglas Adams was conscious of his own quirks ;)

I started reading Ready Player One. It's great and I get all the references because I'm classy and well-read.

Would be even better if my friend stopped yelling at me for not reading Foundation. I'LL GET TO IT AFTER THIS OK!?
