Where do the lasers come out of metal planets?

    Assuming Metal planets fire like the death star... Where does the laser emerge? Obviously there's two giants indented holes on it... But why are there two then?

    A more important consideration is whether the planet will properly explode ala how Alderaan does in a New Hope.

    If all it does is act like an asteroid collision I'll be mighty disappointed.

    I'd rather have a more subtle explosion like:
    the laser punctures the core
    the planet shakes rapidly
    then it explodes or implodes, or both

    Practically.
    "celestial annihilation option". We have 3 possibilities here: one, asteroids. But asteroid belts would bring a ton of new functionality, not just in destruction. It isn't really fitting to just call it a 'celestial annihilation option'.
    Two, we're just getting a bit more planet smash options, like throwing a planet into the sun. That would be pretty underwhelming, and I doubt they'd make a big deal about something like that.
    Three, death star lasers. The only option that is really fitting of the description brad gives, besides something that could come completely out of left field.
