[REL] PA Stats Matchmaking [66830]

So I finally got to do it.


I think I will be able to push this to PA Stats in ~20 hours. I did!

For now players are put together first come, first serve. If people use this I will change this part to be more sophisticated.
Games will be force reported to PA Stats, however you will be able to chose between showing live data or no live data, as usual.
If people start using this enough I can imagine that this will be used to feed results into a specific PA Stats only 1v1 ladder on the PA Stats ladder.

I am looking for cool maps to use, so if somebody has a nice one, I'd be interested in that. You can use the UI debugger to extract your systems and give them to me. (start the debugger, go to resources, go to Local Storage and copy the value of "planets" by double clicking the value and pressing ctrl c.)

I hope somebody will use it this time, by tomorrow evening anybody with PA Stats installed will have that button after all.

About error reports:
Error reports are best when they contain an accurate time and what message you were shown before something bad happened. And ofc what the bad was that happened.
Also generally if you encounter issues try to restart PA and wait a 2 or 3 minutes so the system can clear potentially broken state about you.

The "Somebody else is searching" text might be showing up when I'm the only one searching.

EDIT: if you mean that is a bug report then yeah it will indeed show up once 1 player is in the queue. So when you are searching you will always see it.

That's what I meant. The text only showed up when I clicked to search, then it went away when I canceled. Doesn't affect functionality at all. Just played a great game against Sharpe with this. Did you override Uber's system generator? We had a 25 halley planet.

The "somebody is searching" thing is not exactly perfect for sure. I.e. if the other person cancel in the wrong moment you will click search and not find anybody, etc. It's hard to do this kind of thing really well, because there are so many possibilities for people to cancel stuff.

What happened here? From what I see in the logs you somehow ended up in the game while sagittari crashed maybe? He somehow did not join the game and instead continued to search for a game?

That just happened twice in a row. I kept thinking maybe he was still loading or something, but he never showed up.

weird. In the first case he definitely stayed in the mainmenu and kept polling for a game.
No idea why. He is the only one to have that kind of issue currently though.

Whatever the reason, PA Stats should maybe not report a winner if one player doesn't show up. You could tell by APM, since it is possible for a game to be played without building anything. Mostly only matters for the pa stats ladder though. I didn't want to just leave because I don't know if the ladder will penalize me in that situation. Luckily there isn't a PA stats automatch ladder yet, so it doesn't really affect anything.

yeah. Well for a full 1v1 only PA Stats ladder it would be easy to filter out those games. In the current 1v1 ladder thing it will show it as a game vs anon. Not the end of the world.
