    like space bar in photoshop?

it's not a bad idea, and doesn't sound hard to just have both.

Oh you'd definitely still have the arrow keys, that's the most intuitive way to do it.

I was thinking that maybe this doesn't matter with strategic zoom, but then again, it would be nice if you wanted to move around the battlefield at a specific zoom level without changing your relative-to-screen-borders mouse position.

    Seems like a reasonable idea.

Several RTS games do this by having the mouse cursor control camera position when middle mouse is held down. Some do it by velocity = current cursor position - cursor position when middle mouse button clicked*, others do it by a direct position-to-position relation. It's probably best to include both.

Zero-K has a good example of this, and all C&C games have had this (usually in the velocity control version).

*Well technically this is the negative of the desired velocity, as its the world that moves, not the camera

Just add the possibility to zoom around, just as in SupCom. In SupCom I dont "scroll" at all anymore. Zero K (and all other Spring games) do this very badly, not allowing the player to fully zoom out.

The problem is, PA has 3D battlefields. You can't just use zoom as we did in SupCom.
