Just a little something I whipped up, nothing fancy really. Let's call it a proof of concept. Modding the alpha probably isn't what Uber had in mind in terms of testing but I just couldn't resist the urge to try.

Changed the name and description of the Bot Factory:

Changed the Bot Factory's buildable units:

Alpha AND a mod? This is probably going to go very big!

I've been lurking for mod stuff and can't wait to get back on the modding scene after I receive my alpha :)

If you (or anybody else) will release a mod for any version of PA, please write the build number for which it is made to the modification itself :)

If you change the buildable units, will it still work?
Will it also work with people who are not using this "mod" over the Uber Servers?

Alpha has started to roll out to those who backed at the appropriate level.

    This is on build 49073.

The factory still works with the changed buildable units. The units tend to get stuck during the roll off though but this is probably because of how the factory handles it (also seems to depend on factory placement). Haven't really looked into it to be honest but it should be fixable.

I've only tried it when I was the only person in the game. I'm fairly certain joining somebody's game or having somebody join your game when they don't have this "mod" installed will break something. I'll try playing the mod with another player when my brother gets his key.

As a side note, the client does do a file verification when you start it but this can be cancelled.

Hey Jessep! Good to see you :)

And so my first PA modding tool kind of, sort of began a bit back, and, you know... I kind of, am lazy.

Your name seems familiar. If you are making a modding tool then consider me interested in seeing how it turns out. You know, when you stop being lazy ;)

If you really think we need a modding tool, I will help you.
But is it a good idea for prealpha? :D

    1. Congrats, LD.

    2. Modding tool? You have notepad.exe for that, you need nothing more. ;P

Yep, the unit data files are pretty easy to figure out, and similar to Sup Com (other than the json syntax)

    Encyption -_-
As for modding tools, my tool, if completed, will spit out a unit script from an input 3d design.

Personally I found it much easier to work with text files and model files in supcom. IMHO, advanced mod tools are just another barrier between expressing your ideas and actually implementing your ideas.

I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me, but that's just the way I learned to work best.

Speaking of mods, what do you mean [redacted] isn't in the alpha? What do you mean there's only [redacted]? And oh my, that's an interesting unit
