    [Environmental upgrades]
Unit/or manufacturing structure upgrade or macro (applied to a commander) that upgrades all units on a planet/or group of.

Problem - Units being transported to new planet may need to go to a receiving/modification station before use.

[Acid Rain] - Corrodes structure of units.
    Acid resistance upgrade.
Other effect - Makes unit more robust.

[Frozen Planet] - Mech mechanical parts could freeze and cease up.
    Heater upgrade.
Other effect - Turns ammo into plasma

I think Uber ultimately opted against dynamic weather but we may still see more environment interactions.

For example acid lakes would corrode units, ice would make movement more difficult and trees could block direct enemy fire.

Yech, that sounds like a horrible idea. I would rather just concentrate on destroying my opponent, rather than making sure all my units have proper upgrades when I first drop them off on a new planet. Less micro management is needed, not more.

    This isn't Planetary Simulator 3000.

I think it would make for a great mod.

My point is that with each upgrade could have another effect on performance so that the environments cause more diverse strategy making each planet into a 'meta game' in itself.

I approve of having a planet with a corrosive atmosphere or sea, but it doesn't seem very useful to gameplay.

and i'm pretty sure uber said "no upgrades".

The idea is that we're fighting a millenia-old war and every technology has already been refined to the point were there isn't a single thing that could be done better.

but i like the idea of having corrosive atmosphere or whatever, but no upgrade for that : you'll just have to repair your stuff permanently.

While this would make an interesting mod, I'd rather it not in the core gameplay.

I feel the same way I'd prefer to see these kind of things in a mod, we just need people who can make them into mods. That way people can just enable it if they want it in the game or not.

You have some interesting Ideas about weather Blocky22.

Perhaps you should try to find a moding team to bring out a Planetary Annihilation Weather Effects Mod, PA-WEM for short. Or WA - Weather Annihilation :)

"Erosion" would be a good weather mod name
