Hey all - This came up as a question about the images we released last week, so the fantastic Steve did a little clean up on his concept scale tests so folks could start to get a sense of scale of the units vs each other, the terrain, etc.

These are renders, not in game. The units shown are not final, but are simply representative of the various types of units that will be available.

    Enjoy!

I reckon the scale is about bang on, I can't help but notice however... That thing in the back.. fires units ? ;o

    Wow, just. amazing !! :D
The scale makes buildings look so impressive !
I don't think that commanders need to be bigger, they look pretty small in front of buildings though...

It's more important that they stand out(or above in this case) from the rest of the units, so mission accomplished if you ask me.

This post was spawned because of an earlier thread here where people were asking about scale. We worked this out a while ago so we're fairly happy where it's at. Of course things are always subject to change.

In previous games I've felt like the scale has never actually worked out correctly so we are putting a particular emphasis on it this time.

Loving it ! Great thanks !

So it gives some additionnal questions like : the commander names...

The left one looks like the progenitor.
The middle left one looks like the alpha.
The right one looks like the theta.

So what are the center and middle right ones ? :D

    I like it!

I think that having a significant difference in size will make it much easier to distinguish units when they are close to the camera.

Scale looks good! Always nice to have self-autonomous buildings to conserve on space.

The only thing that makes me raise an eyebrow is the ground-to-air (or space) infantry unit accelerator in the back there. It's coming in at about 100 meters (counting the infantry tail) with the broadside of the infantry being fired at 4.3 meters.

I don't know what kind of magnetic acceleration is going on in that thing, but it SCARES me. You could use that puppy for outright kamikaze deployment.

I'm more worried that it doesn't seem to have a way to rotate? I mean, if these are assets from the Visualization where it didn't need to turn it kinda makes sense to skip it but still...

A rotational system on the moon base makes sense for beneficial trajectory (Moon-To-Earth units). A rotational system on the planet, maybe not so much. The main point may be to get the units elevated before they use personal flight control systems if they are Earthbound aerial units.

Definitely like the scale of the scale... not negating the coolness of small units, while showing the significant size difference with the large ones!

seems really good, factories look like they can build units the unit cannony thing looks like it could shoot them and the rocket facility feels like it should. all spot on.
